Fee Waivers
Johnston Ridge Observatory IS CLOSED AT THIS TIME, DUE TO A DEBRIS FLOW THAT OCCURRED ON MAY 14, 2023, that removed a portion of the road, a bridge and power to Johnston Ridge Observatory. Access is available to the Hummocks trailhead.
Monument Fees will be waived for “registered” school groups from accredited K-12 educational institutions, colleges and universities visiting Mount St. Helens as part of a school assignment.
For every 5 students, one adult receives a free admittance. Once the 5:1 ratio is exceeded, each additional adult must pay $8 for a monument pass.
Fees must be paid at the visitor center upon arrival.
The Mount St. Helens Visitor Center is managed by Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. The fee system are separate from those managed by the USDA Forest Service. Be advised that Mount St. Helens Visitor Center admits one adult for every five students in for free. Any additional adults will need to pay fee of $5.00/adult upon their arrival to the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center. East and South of Mount St. Helens
Recreation Pass Fees will be waived for “registered” school groups from accredited K-12 educational institutions, colleges and universities visiting Mount St. Helens as part of a school assignment.
If you are travelling in a yellow school bus, after you register nothing else is needed.
If you are traveling in individual vehicles or hired motor coaches, print out a copy of your registration confirmation for each participating vehicle and place it on the dash board upon your arrival. Your parent vehicles will need to have this registration confirmation paper on their vehicles in lieu of the $5.00 recreation pass.
